CLICKER TRAINING FOR HANDLING AND GROOMING (TIGER IN ZOO)

TIGER TRAINING AT COPENHAGEN ZOO: Some of you have already seen this video, but for those of you who haven't, I hope you enjoy this video showing the behaviors this trainer has created with his subject, a huge tiger, to facilitate some medical procedures.  They train for this every day!  Note the clicker sound.  Note the "target stick" that the trainer uses to ask the tiger to move around and reposition himself.  Note how the trainer gently pokes the tiger's paw to simulate the pressure of being held, having blood drawn.  The tiger opens his mouth wide for quick photos to be taken of his teeth and oral tissue.  He offers his tail and it's shaved and blood is drawn!  This is all done through the same operant conditioning techniques you will use with your dog.  How can you start with baby steps to help your dog tolerate having his nails trimmed?  Having his ears examined, and his teeth?  These are all great training goals.  And it's fun to see the pros at work with animals other than dogs and cats.  Enjoy!  https://youtu.be/yDGEuihopWs?si=0mXnuioj5LWPLzB4
