I'm not a competitive person by nature but I am interested in various dog sports for the fun, engaging activities they create for you and your dog. Taking up a dog sport (or two or three!) can deepen your training and your bond with your dog, widen your group of human friends, and provide some fun goals to pursue.
I've competed in AKC Obedience before, and I think Rally Obedience is more fun and more accessible to most people. So let's take a look at what Rally Obedience (also known as Rally-O) is about, and now to train for it. There are many formal competitions in the US and in Canada for this (if that's of interest to you- you can achieve different levels of recognition, ribbons, etc).
Here is some more info about Rally-O including how you can participate if you live in Europe.
